- Who is eligible to be part of the BCS program?
Any first-year student admitted to the Mendoza College of Business may apply during the major declaration process in the spring of their first year. Transfer and internal applicants may also be considered in later semesters, depending on capacity and their ability to complete the program within eight semesters. Applications will be reviewed based on academic qualifications and a personal statement (essay or video).
- How many students are in the BCS program?
Enrollment is currently limited to approximately 15–20 students per year, though this number may increase as the program develops and teaching capacity grows.
- Does the BCS program provide advising for students to help them complete both majors and other academic plans?
Yes. BCS students receive support from a dedicated Faculty Director and academic advisors in both Mendoza and the College of Engineering. Advisors help students stay on track to complete the dual major within eight semesters and explore other interests such as study abroad or minors.
- Can BCS students study abroad? Can they choose any business major? Can they double-major or have minors?
Yes. BCS students must complete one Mendoza business major and the computer science major, but they may also pursue minors or participate in study abroad, provided they can complete all requirements within eight semesters. Individual advising will help students create a workable plan.
- Are there dedicated BCS courses or seminars?
Yes. BCS students will take a cohort-specific section of Mendoza’s Foundations of Ethical Behavior course, with a focus on ethics in technology and business. Additional opportunities such as a cross-college colloquium with guest speakers are being developed.
